It’s been awhile since I last wrote. Please know I have a good excuse. It’s all for you. Actually, it’s for me, but you’ll get the benefits of living vicariously through my crazy experiment. And if you dare, you can join me in this journey…
To write a novel in THREE days.
What? Am I delusional? Didn’t I fail at writing a novel in 30 days? Why would I do this?
To see if I can.
Plus, this may work better with the way I write and think. It may push me to finish a project faster, to not worry about the impossibilities, to see my story better. So hear me now…I AM going to write a novel, okay, a FIRST DRAFT, in three days. Interested? Curious? Maybe a little?
Here’s the ammunition you need to follow in this journey:
- Watch this video
- Read Ghostwood’s (Tim Dedopulos) article How to Write a Book in Three Days
- Think of your idea and come back! Pretty please?

Who is in?
I’m seriously considering it for the next one. Go, you!
Thanks, Becky! This will definitely be an interesting experiment!
When do we start? I saw your ghostwood tweet and have been toying with the idea ever since 🙂
I have 3 books (2 YA) completely planned out (chapter notes and all) – but not actually written – here’s hoping that this is the catalyst!
Lovin’ all you do by the way – I’ve been lurking for awhile and just wanted to say thanks 🙂
Such kind words! Thank you so much, Heba. This week is all about prepping. Depending on how that goes, we can start beginning of next week. Glad you’re in!
You are an inspiration! I’m not going to try for a novel in three days. But if I can write for three days straight I’ll be pretty happy. Good luck!
Haha. I agree. I’ll be happy if I can write for three days straight. And if I can create some semblance of a draft in this time, it’ll be icing on the cake. Can you even imagine? A girl’s got to try.
Thanks so much, Chris!
Wow…this is something! How fantastic would it be to come out of this with some semblance of a draft — oh, the possibilites. I may just be crazy enough to try it, too!
Go for it, Amanda!
Good luck on your whirlwind journey…I’m rooting for you.
-Josh
Thanks, Josh. Really appreciate your kind words!
